GEVA is honored to be interviewed and featured by Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) in the article: Voluntary Sustainability Standards – Redefining the Future of Vietnam’s Green Exports.

In global trade, Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) are no longer a “voluntary” option but have become a “mandatory passport” for Vietnamese agricultural businesses seeking to access high-end markets such as the EU, the US, Canada, and Japan.

VSS set strict requirements on quality, environment, labor, and traceability. To stay competitive, businesses must proactively restructure their production, management, and branding models — rather than passively pursuing certifications only when required by buyers.

Technology plays a crucial role in this process: blockchain enables supply chain transparency; IoT supports real-time monitoring; biochar regenerates soil; and AI assists with compliance reporting. While some models in Vietnam have successfully implemented these technologies, SMEs still need more support to adopt them on a wider scale.

GEVA is committed to continuing its support for Vietnamese businesses by providing roadmaps, training, and transformation assistance — helping them not only to “meet the standards” but also to achieve long-term, sustainable growth in the green export landscape.

Let’s join GEVA in driving the green export journey for Vietnamese agricultural businesses.

About GEVA:
The program “Incubating and Accelerating Green Exports through Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS)” is funded by the Swiss Government and co-managed by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), Ministry of Industry and Trade. It is operated by KisStartup JSC during the period from April 2025 to April 2026.

The project aims to enhance the green export capacity of Vietnamese businesses (through the application of VSS) via a series of training, consulting, incubation–acceleration, and international market connection activities, helping businesses meet the increasingly stringent requirements of global markets.
